Jackson Warne shares his bittersweet celebrations as he turns 23

Jackson Warne celebrated his 23rd birthday on Sunday. 

And while he was surrounded by love from friends and dewapoker family, the son of the late admitted it was a tough day without his dad. 

‘This birthday was a hard one to celebrate but I was lucky enough to be surrounded by great friends and family to make it such a special weekend,’ he wrote in his caption on Instagram.

Jackson went on to reference how 23 was his father’s lucky number, and the number he wore on his jersey when playing cricket. 

‘I turned 23 this year which is a very special number.Thankyou everyone for the birthday wishes and I will get back to all of you. I appreciate your kind words,’ Jackson added. 

Among those celebrating with Jackson were friends of his dad, including cricketer Dimitri Mascarenhas, poker player Tony Hachem, and footballers Aaron Hamill and Steven Baker.

Shane’s brother Jason Warne also went along, and Jackson additionally had support from his girlfriend, Kiah Broadsmith. 

Helen Nolan of The Shane Warne Foundation also attended, as well as Jackson’s close family.

Shane Warne passed away on March 4, the first day of a Thai holiday on the island of Koh Samui, after suffering a heart attack in his luxury villa aged just 52. 

A private memorial with Shane’s family was held in mid-March followed by a state funeral at the Cricket Ground on March 30.
